Each local authority has a welfare rights service that provides advice on a range of benefit and tax credit entitlements. The advice given by the service is completely independent, impartial, confidential and free. We have no ties to benefit agencies or other interested parties.
The service recognises that individuals must make their own decisions, and that the role of the service is to give people the information they need to be able to exercise their rights.

Derbyshire Districts CAB:
The Adviceline is open Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm on 0300 456 8390. All face to face services are suspended until further notice, however telephone appointments are available and can be booked through the Adviceline.
Welfare Rights (Out of Hours Support)
(For Tameside) Citizens Advice Greater Manchester (CAGM) is a consortium of all 10 Greater Manchester local Citizens Advice services.
A new helpline is available for all GM residents to call Monday to Sunday from 7pm to 10pm on 0161 850 5053. Calls are charged at local rates. This service will increase access to generalist and specialist advice in:
- Debt and Money Advice
- Welfare Rights and access to Benefits
- Housing and Mortgage
For Glossop, Citizens Advice Derbyshire Districts phonelines are open Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm on 0300 456 8390.
COVID-19 is having a significant impact on many LGBTQ+ people with family tensions during lockdown, new levels of isolation and domestic abuse being some of the issues that have been highlighted. Colleagues at the Switchboard LGBT+ helpline

Albert Kennedy Trust

NESTAC is a non-profit organisation that supports Africans and immigrants in Greater Manchester. They are made up of registered mental health practitioners and psychotherapists. They have launched a Covid-19 support line for BAME communities in Greater Manchester. This includes anyone recovering from Covid-19, their relatives or friends, those who are bereaved as a result of Covid-19 and BAME women/girls who have been victims to abuse. Cross-cultural advice is given and tailored psychotherapy for those in need. Support in English, French, Somali, Kurdish, Swahili, Urdu, Arabic and more.

South Asian Health Foundation
South Asian Health Foundation (SAHF) is a registered charity founded in 1999 to promote good health in the UK’s South Asian communities. We are one of the UK’s leading British Asian health charities. Their mission is to assist persons living in the U.K., particularly those of South Asian origin, who are experiencing conditions of sickness, hardship or distress. The Flowhesion Foundation ordinarily work to build community cohesion and promote the rule of law, democracy, individual liberty and tolerance. To this end manage projects, advise public sector, deliver training, undertake research on a national level.

Race Equality Foundation

Europia works to help EU nationals in Greater Manchester. They have created a new website
to bringing together their COVID-19 response, including their Emergency Fund

into Bulgarian, Estonian, Hungarian, Latvian and Lithuanian. They have also set up a befriending phone-line service

Kooth is an online counselling and emotional well-being platform for children and young people aged 11 to 18 years. Kooth provides:
- Live chat function for a CYP to converse with a qualified counsellor;
- Messaging function for children and young people to contact the service, these are monitored and managed by counsellors, emotional wellbeing practitioners and media workers;

Off the Record
Off the Record offer person-centred 1:1 counselling service for children and young people aged 10-25 in Tameside Specialist 1:1 counselling. Weekly drop-in for young people in ‘immediate crisis’ including skype drop-in.

Tameside, Oldham and Glossop Mind
Mind is a mental health wellbeing centre offering counselling, courses, workshops, advice, drop-ins e.g. welfare rights and housing support, veggie cafe and internet access. The types of courses available to support children and young people include; emotional wellbeing and mental health resilience, school training and the Hive. The hive is a safe space for children & young peoples to come and get involved in activities or access some help for issues or problems in their lives. Some services delivered differently due to restrictions.

Healthy Minds Pennine Care Foundation Trust
Healthy Minds is a talking therapies service. Providing support and treatment for those who are experiencing symptoms such as difficulty sleeping, low mood / depression, stress, worry or anxiety, feelings of hopelessness or panic attacks. Healthy Minds also offer a service for complicated bereavements and adjustments to life events (6-12 months post incident).
The service offers an online therapy programme called SilverCloud which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can start the therapy straight away and it can be done at a time and place that suits you.
The service is open to anyone aged 16 years+ self-referral/ professional referral. The service is providing remote telephone therapies where clinically indicated.

Homestart support volunteers support to families with individual one-to-one home visiting and targeted support to new parents and children on a range of matters such as breastfeeding and parenting. They are continuing to do whatever they can to maintain regular contact with those in need but some staff may continue to do this via Skype or Zoom.
