Active Tameside’s Everybody Can services have been awarded the Inclusion & Disability Award at the largest ever national ukactive Awards
The Everybody Can services offer high quality, accessible leisure services for young people and adults with a disability or additional needs as well as opportunities for education, employment, respite, life skills development and independence.
This allows people to reach their potential and improves their health, wellbeing and independence, whilst engaging them in activities within their local community. Service users take part in Active Tameside centre programmes, including adult social care, community disability sports clubs, community outreach support, holiday camps and bespoke membership packages.
Tameside Council Executive Leader Cllr Brenda Warrington, who is also Greater Manchester Lead for Equalities, said: “Congratulations to Active Tameside for winning this deserved recognition for removing barriers to enable everyone to access activities. Everybody Can services are having an impact on health and social care and, importantly, making a positive difference to the lives of local people and families.”
Ukactive acting CEO, Huw Edwards, said: “Congratulations not just to all of the fantastic award winners, but to every finalist and entrant, all of whom are fantastic examples of the extraordinary work we do as a sector to get more people, more active, more often.”
The award follows Active Tameside’s 2018 success, when they won ukactive Outstanding Organisation of the Year.
