FROM schools to GP surgeries, street lights to looking after the vulnerable – residents are being asked which local services matter to them most to help set spending priorities for next year.
Tameside and Glossop Strategic Commission, which brings together Tameside Council and NHS Tameside and Glossop Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), has launched a Budget Conversation and wants local people to get involved.
The Budget Conversation aims to explain where the money spent by the two organisations comes from, where it is spent currently and then gather views that will help set the budget for 2019/20.
The total amount of money spent by both the council and CCG combined annually is over £900 million. Although this is a significant sum of money, the amount has reduced considerably over recent years due cuts in funding from central Government. Both organisations have had to find increasingly new and innovate ways to provide the services local people want.
Residents and businesses are encouraged to go to the Budget Conversation webpage at https://www.tameside.gov.uk/tbc/budgetconversation2019-20 to find out more and feedback - before 29 January 2019 – about what is important to them.
