Free NHS Health Checks
Anyone aged 40 to 74, who lives or works in Tameside, or is registered with a Tameside GP is eligible for a full NHS Health Check provided they have not already had one at their GP practice in the last 5 years, and have not been diagnosed with cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure or diabetes.
The Community Health Checks Programme is delivered by staff from Be Well Tameside which is part of Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust.
Health Check clinics are located throughout the borough to enable people to have their weight, height, blood pressure and cholesterol levels checked for free at Denton Wellness Centre, Corporal Andrew Breeze Way, Denton, M34 3RD on Monday’s from 4pm-8pm, Friday’s from 9am-4.30pm and Saturday’s from 9am-1pm. At Hyde Clinic Union Street, Hyde, SK14 1NX on Thursday’s from 1.30pm – 5.30pm and at Stalybridge Clinic, Waterloo Road, Stalybridge, SK16 2AU on Thursdays 9am – 4pm.
The checks also screen around exercise, alcohol use and diabetes risk. Based on the results, participants may be signposted for further support and asked if they are happy for their results to be shared with their GP. People will also have the opportunity to find out more about the support that Be Well Tameside can offer, including weight management, support to stop smoking, lots of training courses to improve their lifestyle and in addition they can be further signposted to appropriate services that the individual feels would help them.
Employers can also arrange for Be Well Tameside to deliver health checks at places of work, regardless of the size of their organisation. To book an appointment, call: 0161 716 2000 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
